Nice to Meet You
Hi, I’m Chef Dr. Junnie Lai, and I believe that food is both art and medicine . A reflection of who we are, how we live, and how we connect with the world around us.
Through my studies, my work, and my life experience, I’ve learned that wellness isn’t one-size-fits-all. Each of us has a unique energy blueprint that influences how we respond to food, stress, and life itself. That realization inspired me to create Life Personalized: a space where science, culinary creativity, and ancient healing wisdom come together to help you understand your body, nurture your energy, and live in balance.
My approach blends Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) constitution theory, modern nutrition, and the Five Bodies framework — Physical, Vital, Mental, Supra-Mental, and Bliss — to guide you toward holistic alignment. Whether through the meals you prepare, the thoughts you nourish, or the habits you build, every choice can become a path back to balance.
If there’s one truth I’ve discovered, it’s this:
When you understand your nature, every meal becomes medicine, and every day becomes a practice of balance.
Growing up, my parents instilled in me a deep appreciation for the quality and deliciousness of food. My mother believed that food is medicine—teaching me that what we eat shapes our health and well-being.
For me, Traditional Chinese Medicine and the five bodies were a part of my life from birth. Each morning began with a gentle question from my mother:
“How do you feel today?”
If I felt sluggish, she simmered chicken and ginger soup to warm and awaken my energy. If I was overheated, she brewed a cool chrysanthemum tea. Food and herbs were her quiet way of bringing harmony back to the body.
These small, loving adjustments instilled in me the innate knowledge that health isn’t built by rules, but by rhythm.
These early lessons became the root of my passion: a love for delicious food and a lifelong embrace of the belief that food can heal.
Fast forward to today, and whenever I walk into any bookstore, I see shelves filled with books promising “the perfect diet” — keto, paleo, plant-based, intermittent fasting. Each promising balance, energy, or renewal.
Have you ever tried one of these diets and gotten nothing but frustrated and depressed at the lack of results?
It’s not your fault. It’s not because you did anything wrong or didn’t follow the rules correctly. It’s because no single way of eating fits every body or every circumstance.
Each of us carries a unique body constitution. When our constitution is balanced, we feel clear, calm, and strong. When it’s not, the body speaks up through fatigue, poor sleep, digestive unease, or emotional tension.
As I became more acutely aware of how popular nutrition seemed odds with an ancient wisdom and science that I was raised in, I was inspired to do something about it.
It's what drove me to become a chef, to create my consulting business Global Cuisine Consulting, to pursue my PhD in Natural Medicine, and to start Life Personalized. My purpose is to help others discover what their bodies are trying to tell them and to reconnect with food in a meaningful way.
So, let me ask you a question:
